Inspired like many others his age by the movies of Bruce Lee, Sy started his Martial Arts training in Taekwondo at the age of 12. His thirst for knowledge, led him to take a keen interest in the skills of Boxing and Muaythai to supplement his Taekwondo training. Achieving his Black Belt at the age of 16, Sy moved to train in Shootfighting (A blend of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Muaythai, Boxing and Wrestling). Appreciating the Wrestling and Striking skills of Shootfighting set him on the search to find more specialised trainers in Wrestling, Muaythai, Boxing and BJJ.
Having been exposed to Strength Training through his High School P.E teacher, Sy went on to study Exercise Science with a major focus on Strength and Conditioning. Although having competed and fought in several different styles, Sy’s passion always lay in coaching and training others. This led him to a career in Personal training and coaching, opening his first facility at the age of 25 (Kaizen Human Performance) which has evolved over the years into the current William Street Gym.

The hard training, technical focus and strategy of Boxing appealed to Amy quickly as she started to train quite regularly, enjoying the added benefits of stress relief Boxing training provided her whilst completing her medical degree.
After getting a taste for competition in some interclub matches, Amy started to compete in Amateur Boxing bouts, finding success.
